Title: Updating a file on each member of a network
Post by: wildwood on December 02, 2006, 08:55:57 AM
My business has 3 computers logged onto our network. Here is our issue: we have several documents with customer lists that change very often. These changes might occur in customer addresses, phone #'s, email addresses, customer #'s etc. It becomes very cumbersome to make a change on all 3 computers to keep each one in sync with one another. Is it possible to make any one or more changes on one of these computers and have it make the same change(s) on the other two, simultaneously??

move the file to the shared docs on one computer, and then just create a short cut to it on each computer. ( Ihave assumed you do not have a server set up with domain capabilities)

It should, but you need to bear in mind that you may encounter problems if more than one user has the document open simultaneously.  What happens if they both save different copies of the document?

The only satisfactory answer to this is to use a database or a CRM program.
