My nephew installed XP on our computer, and now I find out that XP is not capable of reading a backup made on 98. It does not recognize the .qic extension.
I was directed to a site that said if I download something called MyBackupPC, it would work. All that did was cause a CD to be made from the zip disk, but when I tried to use the CD, the computer appeared to be trying to read it as one large document, and I still can't get to my files.
My nephew claims I have to find a Windows 98 computer, restore my stuff onto that, then copy documents onto disks. I'm having trouble finding someone that has Windows 98 AND a zip drive, and trying to do it from that CD didn't work.
Any ideas? I've got some important stuff on that backup that I need to get to and I'm looking at fast-approaching deadlines. Thanks!

You can create a dual boot.

The dual booting information doesn't appear to cover Windows 98 an Windows XP. Does it work to follow the other instructions?
(By the way, I should've mentioned in my original post that our computer had multiple viruses and the whole thing was just wiped out, in case someone is wondering how I would lose my data just from installing XP over 98.)

I believe this article should relate to Windows XP as well: DUAL BOOT WINDOWS 95/98 WITH WINDOWS NT/2000 (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000346.htm#02)
I believe Windows XP is based on Windows NT..
