Title: Odd Numbers
Post by: 2k_dummy on February 14, 2007, 01:59:03 PM
Most Users ever online was 164 on Today at 2:02pm
Most Members ever online was 49 on Feb 9th, 2007, 5:47pm
Most Guests ever online was 111 on Feb 8th, 2007, 4:16pm

Do you see anything odd here?

How did most users increase without either the members or guests numbers increasing? Is this some kind of fuzzy math, or am I missing something? ;D

I see.
What about search engines?
They count as users, right?
So I bet it was the search engines that did it.

A search engine is a user? They only index the pages.

Just a guess.
I figured that as guests count, why not bots?

Hello:

I can see users = members + guests. There is a little error caused by moment measurement.

Maybe, the question is, Who are the guests? Anybody knows?

HARLEQUIN.

That is a little strange. However, believe the total users online includes all members, guests, and search engines. If there were only four bots on at the time I can't see how it would reach that total of users. However, I have a suspicion it was more than four. Just to make sure there isn't any rogue users stuck in there I'll clear the users online. But rest assured I'm not inflating the numbers.

A guest is any non-registered users entering the forums, this could be someone coming to the forums from the website to vote on a poll or to browse it, could be someone coming from a search engine to a specific forum post relating to their issue, etc.

p.s. users online log reset.

As soon as Google gets through this forum, there will be TONS of new guests here. Though, unable to post, they will still be able to read, and hopefully, be able to find out their issues fix.

(Now I have a reason to leave the forums and flee  :o )

Is there anyone here who we could live without? (Excluding: Mac, Backdated, and Merlin2 and the many aliases of Mac)
