Title: Gots me a problem with my graphics card.. I Guess?
Post by: Wrangque on March 02, 2007, 05:10:14 AM
Heya sports fans!

I got this really REALLY annoying problem with my graphics card (I think). I recently upgraded my computer (With new cpu, graphic card, Motherboard and ram) and at first everything seemed fine, but recently I can't seem to play games... Whenever i've been playing for a while (somewhere between 5 mins and 10 mins, it varies) the screen suddenly freezes and becomes a colorfull chaos of pixels, i mean, they're all over the place! stripes and *censored*... and i can't do nothing but restart the comp.
When i then restart, the screen is still messed up, still chaos and it continues like that until i completely shut down the comp and way for a few mins (or 15) then everthing is okay again.

-This ONLY happends in games (seen nothing wrong in windows, yet) and only after a while of gaming.

-As i said, it's a recent problem, in the start EVERYTHING was all happy days.

-I was thinking it could be overheating or something like that (i know very little about computers :D) but then again, i donno why it would be overheated, it's got 2 massive coolers + a cooler inside the ... erhm... box?

-I wish i could show you a screenie but i can't do anything but restart when it freezes up.

we're talking bout a
2,13ghz INTEL core 2 CPU
1 Gig (DDR2 ?!) ram
Geforce 7600 GT

What els ya need to know ? :D i'm new at this

Thanks for Helping :D

Open up the case of the computer and clean out any dust inside.
Don't use a vacuum cleaner, use a cloth.
It definitely sounds like heat to me.

If he just replaced all of that there shouldn't be a dust problem.

How about some specifics on the temps?

Sounds like heat, bad graphics card or bad drivers.
