Title: I can't get past the "windows is starting up..." page.

I am having issues with my laptop...it is a HP and I have Windows XP. Basically, when I turn it on everything goes smoothly until it gets to the “windows is starting up…” page. It freezes there every time and I have pressed every button and combination of buttons on my keyboard and I cannot get past this page.


Help?

Some details about the laptop and what happened prior to this could prove helpful.  ;)
