Title: Problem Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 On Windows Vista Basic
Post by: corndale on May 26, 2007, 11:18:41 AM
In attempting to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 on a friend's computer running Windows Vista Basic with 512mb, I get the following Windows Installer error message: "The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible.  Free up space on the drive or verify that you have permission on the Temp folder.  OK"  The Temp folder is located in the Windows folder on the "C" drive, as it should be.  The 106G "C" drive has 77.4G free.  I deleted most of the files in the Temp folder and attempted to install Acrobat Reader, but the same error message pops up.  The file attributes of the Temp folder are "read only."  Even when I uncheck "read only" and click OK, the attribute reverts back to "read only."  I do not think that has anything to do with my installation problem.  I am logged on as an Administrator.  This is the first time I have encountered this message in any of my installations.  I have been able to install other programs on this computer with no problems.  Does anyone have a solution to this installation problem?

Travel to Adobe's site and grab the uninstaller and run it...it's common for Adobe products to refuse to install if the original install was botched.
