Didn't it come with Vista pre-installed ? ?
If so what led you to a re-install ? ?

This issue is probably related with the version of Roxio CD burning software that came with your series, it is incompatible with Windows Vista (the driver that comes with it is) and it can cause this issue.

Check out www.dell.com and click Support and click "Downloads and More"
enter (or have it find) your model number, and download the updates it has there.

I bought the Dell computer in Feb. with Windows installed but got a free up grade to Vista. I installed Vista last week when I got it.

I went to Dell downloads, there are about 20. What do I need?

Can you post the link to the Dell web page where you see those 20 items?

So that other people who search the forums with similar problems know, could you please tell us the name of the patch?
