Title: Internal microphone no longer working

I have an old (about 6 yrs) HP pavilion mx70  monitor with an Internal mic that just stopped working one day, the person on the other end can hear static and a bit of voice but no more...any reasons or advice would be appreciated and anything I might be able to do to fix It? I have tried blowing out the mic with compressed air and that did nothing.

Do you have a sound card plugged into your computer?  If so, there should be a port for an external microphone in it.  You can get a cheap microphone or headset and use the sound card instead.
