I had thought about the G5 or G7 laser mice but, I really don't think my level of play will warrant getting to the extreme of "lasers" and an ice pad ~
Would this mouse suffice for a casual gamer to be ?

It depends on what games you're going to play. I play a lot of Halo PC and my mouse is fine. Right click, left click and scroll...

That is a pretty good gaming mouse. I use a microsoft wireless 6000 keyboard and mouse personally.

When I was looking for a good mouse, the MX518 was one that popped up quite a lot as a good gaming mouse for the price, and a great alternative to the G5 for much cheaper.
If I were you, I'd go for it.
Shop around though, I found my mouse about £20 cheaper than from Logitech in the end.

well; actually the 2 tone G5 is 45.99 US and this MX518 is 39.99
G7 like 70.00
for some reason I just don't want to mess with the wireless stuff. I prefer a dangling cord interfering with everything else on my desktop*

Yah when you are gaming i prefer a cord. It gives me one less reason to say i got fragged for nothing:) so far my wireless 6000 setup has been plagued with problems. Crazy enough since i went to vista my problems went away. Of course i can't have uptime of more then 3 days due to it blue screening and not liking something in my system lol..
