Title: Intel Pentium D Processor
Post by: extreme on July 19, 2007, 12:35:28 PM
Dear Users
Hmm Intel Pentium D Processor with 2 Cores for example I have 3.0GHz Processor
so will it both cores work at a time giving 6GHz speed or just like tradiational Dual Processors
Thanks

It's like a dual processor system, only in one chip.
When doing one thing at a time it will be like a P4 at 3GHz, but when multitasking or running a multi threaded program it will be up to twice as fast, like having two P4s at 3GHz.
Hope this helps answer your question.

I believe this is inaccurate...with both cores maximised running no matter what application it is at 3Ghz ...

Calum didn't say that it was "twice as fast" clock wise, he said it can run some tasks "up to twice as fast" as they would run on a single core cpu.
