Hi members,
Will some kind member please help me with some advice as I am still going through
the PC learning curve.
I am getting a warning message from Windows Defender & my Internet Antvirus
programmes that both of them have detected a medium threat which reads:
This is not spyware. Adware File C:\Windows\system 32\drivers klif.system.
To be safe I have isolated this file .
How can I trace this prog which is causing this & solve the problem as I am worried if I remove this file I might corrupt one of my programes
I must add that I downloaded all the programes which I have on my PC before purchasing Internet Antivirus or down loading Windows Defender.
Kind regards,
Admiral

also get superantispyware and spybot search and destroy and ccleaner and update them
reboot in safe mode and run those scans reboot in normal mode and report and the state

A Google search for klif or klif.sys brings back some interesting results, you should also check them out.

i got for drivers klif.system

Didn't you notice the OP said he was on a learning curve quite obvious from the gap between system_32 and the lack of backspace after drivers.
C:\Windows\system 32\drivers klif.system.
I suggest there has been some poetic license applied to what should have probably been as follows.
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\klif.sys
It's sometimes a matter of getting into OPs heads to find out what's really going on and rather than question them if their supplied information is correct I think it's sometimes better just to point them in some alternative directions to let them help themselves.
Try searching klif.sys, I wonder if the OP has KS as their antivirus software.

I agree with Fed...
The OP also only mentioned Windows Defender, but not their other malware protection...

Hi Members,
I have a warning notice from my Internet Antivirus "Kapersky 7" .
THIS IS the EXACT REPORT:
"File contains adware and cannot be disinfected.
Adware: not-a-virus: AdWare.Win32.POWERSearch.c
File: c:\windows\system32\pbukv2.dll."
MANY THANKS for all your suggestions.
I hope this exact report from my protection prog will help you chaps.

If Kapersky cannot disinfect or repair this file...then it can be quarantined...
If it's quarantined...it poses no threat to your PC.
Tell Kapersky to quarantine it.
