Whenever I load a web page in IE I get a sound like a big raindrop. This sound is not in any of my sounds lists and it drives me crazy. I have turned off sounds in the advanced options but it makers no differencce. Does anyone know what it is and how do I stop it???

What OS do you have? What protection do you have?
-
I have Windows XP SP2. Comodo firewall and avast Anti virus. I usually use the Opera browser as IE is such a pain! The sound also happens when I load MSN Messenger and as on IE have disables all sounds on this too in the tools menu but still get this funny droplet noise.
-
Sounds like an add-on toolbar to me...which ones did you install ? ?
-
I do not have any add on toolbars but I have even tried running without any add ons, from the programs menu and I still get the "Plop"
-
I'm not saying you have a virus...far from it...but what do you have installed as far as Internet Security software or malware protection?
These programs may be playing some type of audible sound or alert when you attempt any type of Internet related actions.

I have Comodo firewall and Avast anti virus. I do not have any problem in the "Opera" Browser. If I load the web page in IE7 for example , www.computeractive.co.uk I get at least 3 Plops.
-
I think that it may be something to do with adverts. When I load the BBC website all is quiet as is Google, but any other like Computeractive.co.uk at least 3 or 4 plops. Also on Live Messenger as soon as the advert at the bottom of the open application comes up it "Plops" Unfortunatley I do not know what to do next????
-
That site won't load for me so i can't test it...

It comes up on MSN and http://www.windowsmedia.com/Mediaguide/Radio
In fact any web page containing adverts that move. Could it be Flash and if it is how do I stop it??

It actually sounds like it may be some type of pop-up or adblocker plug-in installed within your browser...giving you an audible alert when it either blocks pop-ups or ads.
Something you may want to look into...
Are you familiar with how to enable/disable plugins from your web browser in IE7?
Tools/Manage Addons/Enable or disable addons

Problem solved!!!!! It was Pest Patrol running in the background. I have taken it out of the start up in MSCONFIG and now all is silent!! Perfect!
Thanks to you all for your help.
