Jonathon Bailey......Relax......you sound just a little stressed out and there's still 16 days until Christmas.....lol
Take a deep breath , pour yourself a drink of something..... Now that your all calm cool and relaxed .....
It would seem you do not have a internet connection , according to what you say. Are you able to connect to the internet ?  What operating system are you using ?
Do you have a DSL , Cable or Dial-up  connection.
Have you paid your monthly bill ........?

get back to us on these things

Thanks the drink helped [/glb]  ::)

I run Microsoft Windows XP and I have a cable internet connection... my internet runs great except when I try to enter email, MSN Explorer, MSN/Windows Messenger, and any shopping cart locations to check stuff out.

I run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot Search & Destroy, Norton 2005 faithfully, and I also use the firewall from the Service Pack 2.

If anybody has any suggestions please [glb]help[/glb]!

Jonathon Bailey......When did all of these oddities start....all at the same time ?
So your saying that your browser doesnt work at all and your Outlook Express doesnt work at all .
Have you tried another browser ...just to see if it will work ok . Do you ever get any error messages ?
You say your internet works great.......for what ......if you can't use IE explore , MSN messenger  , Outlook Express. ......Hummmm I must be missing something ....you cant browse , send or receive mail . What else is left ?

let us know .

I do all of my emailing through hotmail/msn.  i mainly use msn explorer to do my browsing.  if you're not familiar with msn explorer you have to type a password in and your email and then it logs you into the browser, hotmail, messenger, and .net passport.
of lately i have to use IE because none of my msn will work.  This seems to have all occured at the same time.

Just a few moments ago I ran ad-aware, ran a spybot program, cleaned out cookies and temp files, and restored all of my defaults to my Internet Options...  and still I cannot connect

Sounds suspiciously like the firewall is blocking outgoing traffic on port 443. All of your stuff what ain't woiking needs that port. ;D

Jonathon Bailey.....I use msn messenger all the time to talk to people I know as well as use it to transfer data.
Which version of msn messenger are you using 6.2?
So when you click on your msn icon in your tool tray ....you get the username and password box pop up
....you answer the questions and then what happens .....nothing ?
The other thing is are you using Windows messenger or MSN messenger ? By any chance have you just turned on your SP2 firewall ? Perhaps try turning it off and then try messenger again
let us know

What firewall are you currently using? (If any)
Also, what securty settings is your browser set to? Look in tools > Internet options.

You could try as suggested another browser.

http://www.mozilla.org/

Firefox is a good one.

Yes, when I type in my username and password, for MSN explorer it will usually says "Attempt" and then it will connect. If there is a problem, say the internet wasn't working, it would say "Signing In... Attempt (1)", "Attempt(2)", etc.

Both Windows messenger and MSN messenger and MSn explorer are all up to date, i just redownloaded them to make sure.

I use the firewall that came with the Service Pack 2.  I have had it downloaded for abotu a month now, but this problem only came up about a week ago... and Ive not touched the firewall since I got it.

I wish it was as simple as changing browsers, neil, but my IE works fine. Even when on IE, once I type in 'Go to cart' or 'Login' at hotmail then I get the Page cannot be displayed window.

I just tried turning my Firewall on/off, but it was of no use...   I think I'm running out of ideas. please help

IE works fine.

Well, it seems not. It's worth a try. It takes only a short while to download. I can't think of any more suggestions. Try asking MSN for help?

Jonathon Bailey.....Does anyone other than yourself use that pc ?
Have you considered removing IE6 and then redowloading it again ?

If you open MSN messenger 6.2 directly from the all programs list instead of from IE.......will just the msn open up and have you tried signing in from there ?

Jonathon Bailey......Ok .....I just had a thought ......if you are certain you do not have any viruses ........let use the system restore and restore your pc back to just before the problems started ......to do this click start / All programs/Accessories/System Tools.....then select system restore  and set it restore to before the problem started .

yes, going back to the system restore might fix the problem but I use that as a last ditch effort....  I am an avid computer gamer and would lose some valuable things if that would happen...   im sure you understand.   :-/ ??? :o

Contact the customer support for those websites. If it only affects certain websites, they will know more. Try accessing your account from another computer to make sure it is not an error in your account.
