I formated hard drive on Toshiba, Portege 7000ct laptop, and installed win 2000, but can't connect to internet-lack of driver for network controller. Everest Home is attached. Not sure what other drivers I need so help would be appreciated. I can not do ms updates and can't download svs pack for win 2000. :'( I have a red! at network controller!

The Everest report is empty...
Do you have a Toshiba CD labeled drivers ? ?
If so re-install the MBoard drivers and that should do it.

I have NO Toshiba "anything" so I'm starting over.
I was in safe mode before when I copied to A: Drive and it didn't work apparently)

Network Adapter Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)
This is what you need driver for. Probably Intel web site would be the best place to find it.
-
As a matter of fact, I found it for you here:
http://www.intel.com/design/network/drivers/index.htm (http://www.intel.com/design/network/drivers/index.htm)
Look in:
82550, 82551QM, 82558, 82559 and 82562 Drivers
-
The drivers listed will not work; I've used them all..one at a time. Intel site did not have correct driver either and now searching through Toshiba.
I keep getting messages that my AGP is disabled and ASPI is not working. Are there drivers for these as well? :'( :'(
-
In device mgr, I have ? mark on other devices and ? and ! marks on network controller but no info on mfg. or driver info..the location is cardbus slot (PCI bus 20, device 0, functior) and the status is: the drivers for this device are not installed. Should I uninstall the device? Or try finding driver? :(

Here (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?ModelDLOS=null&ModelDLCat=null&BV_SessionID=%40%40%40%400774147421.1192287018%40%40%40%40&BV_EngineID=cccfaddmeihkhkicgfkceghdgngdgmn.0&ListType=Model&ct=DL&moid=1073769644&rpn=PAP700U&OrderBy=D&PublicStartIndex=0&PrivateStartIndex=0&PublicCutOff=&PrivateCutOff=&AddOldPublicItems=false&AddOldPrivateItems=undefined&all_docs=false#PublicList) is a listing of available drivers for that machine.
Have you contacted Toshiba ? ?
I would try This One First (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlViewDL.jsp?soid=106510&moid=1073769644&rpn=PAP700U&BV_SessionID=@@@@0774147421.1192287018@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccfaddmeihkhkicgfkceghdgngdgmn.0&ct=DL&all_docs=false)

Toshiba is a pain!!!
I used to have Toshiba rig, and their support is just non-existing!!!
Now...
The drivers listed will not work
I have ? mark on other devices and ? and ! marks on network controller
What do you mean by, they won't work?
How did you install them?
You download this:
Controllers, Intel® 82550 Fast Ethernet Controller, Intel® 82558 32-bit PCI Bus LAN
It comes in self-extracting ".exe" file.
You run it, then you go to Device Manager, right click on "network controller" (that one with "!"), and click "Update driver".
Windows can't find it, or what's the story?

As for:
AGP is disabled
you may need new driver for:
Motherboard Chipset Intel 82440BX/ZX
As for:
ASPI is not working
I'm not sure, but I think, it has something to do with your CD/DVD drive.
Where is it listed in your Everest?
