Title: Windows Media Player Default Player.
Post by: srtony1946 on November 29, 2007, 04:57:29 AM
Hi friends, I Subscribe to several guitar mags. Both want me to download  Quicktime 7, no problem there. But I want windows media player to be my main or default player. What puzzles me Is I went to Programs, Access & Defaults and checked custom. And this did not help.
Can you guys and girls help? Thanks.

The way I see it, is that Quicktime is a very different media player. Also, certain files REQUIRE that Quicktime is used. This cannot be changed as far as I know of, but go ahead an try googleling quicktime alternates...

Open Windows Media Player, then go to Tool, Options, File Types (differing depending on your version, but similar to that).
Check all the types you want it to play, then OK out of it.
Hope this helps.

Or you can right click the media file, choose Open With and pick Choose program and tick the box that says 'always use this program to open this type of file'
