Title: Using USB HDD as Network HDD
Post by: DonMCN on December 02, 2007, 04:44:40 PM
Hello,

I am asking anybody here if they know how to possibly make a USB Hard Drive work on a Print Server/Switch. I can't imagine why you technically couldn't. The Print Server/Switch I have has a USB port, which is what my USB hard drive uses for connectivity, and the USB hard drive is powered with it's own power cord, so it won't have to rely on the Print Server/Switch for power. This Print Server/Switch is usually used for my network printer, but I want to try to make it work for my USB hard drive to make it a network drive.

If I am unable to do what I want done above, is there some kind of adapter I can use to take my USB cord and plug it into my router to make it a network drive? Maybe a USB to Network Cord adapter of some sort?

Thanks for your help,
Don

What brand/model is the print server?
