Title: keyboard and mouse dont work
Post by: whitewolf36 on January 04, 2008, 06:27:33 AM
I have 2 people that are running windows xp professional that are saying their mouse and keyboard both do not work. Does this mean that the mobo is bad? I cant get anywhere without one of them working. The computers boot up to windows but keyboard and mouse dont work. Any suggestions?

With the little info you've posted it's impossible to say whether it's the mobo or not.
When did the problem start and did mouse and keyboard stop working on both computer simultaneously?
Is the mice/keyboards USB or PS/2?
Have you tried another mouse/keyboard on the computers?

1.  I'm guessing these are USB keyboards and mice.  Perhaps you could give us the specs on one and/or both of these systems.  Start with one system.

What is the interface type of the keyboard (USB, PS2, wireless)?

What is the interface type of the mouse (USB, PS2, wireless)?

Will the system accept a PS2 keyboard and/or mouse?  Can you borrow working PS2 components to help troubleshoot the system?

2.  Can you get the system specs for at least one of the systems?
     o  Brand Name Computer (Manufacturer)
     o  Model Number
o  MotherBoard Manufacturer/Model Nbr (if not brand name computer)
