while on vista it goes between 10 and 12  is there a way to make it go faster on xp or does it even matter whether it's xo or vista?

You missed the important parts of Zylstra's questions.
What do you mean "Its moving slow"?
And what are the numbers you are posting?

First of all, check itunes preferences
(edit, preferences, advanced, importing) and check to make sure your cd/dvd drive is set to your preferred speed (I'm assuming you want max).

Second, are you sure this drive is capable of doing faster?  Was this the same drive as what was in the vista pc?

no this is not  the same  one as the one with vista
and how would i find the driver speed?

What do you mean by your "driver speed?"  Do you mean the speed of the drive, or are you referencing the cd burner driver?

Those will be the "burning x5.3" type numbers it shows in the progress bar...

That'll be the Burn Speed.

lol..How to confuse a Techie, misspell something :)

Anyway,

and how would i find the drive speed?

It's normally plastered all over the tray, or on the box, or in the manual, or on the website.

Have you checked the Preferences page to see what speed the burner is set to burn within iTunes, as was suggested a few posts ago?

I assumed he meant that but wanted to clarify.
