Title: "Network Cable Unplugged" issue
Post by: Dante3214 on February 15, 2008, 04:04:00 PM
I have a "CAT5" cable connected to my Broadcom 4401 (integrated) network card to a Linksys router in another room of the house. No matter what I have messed with, the network card just doesn't seem to notice that the cable is in. I have a Dell Dimension 4600c with XP service pack 2 installed. I've tried using different cables, and I've tried updating the drivers for the card, but the newest ones from Dell were at least four years old (I'm not sure if Broadcom has drivers for the integrated card). Any ideas?

Edit: My computer does detect the network card, and I have connected that computer to a network before, though only with DSL + router and with the computer being the "server". Recently we switched to Cable if that means anything.

You tried to connect to a different port on the router, also, I presume.
If you try with an alternative OS (Linux on cd like Knoppix or Ubuntu) you have the same problem?
