Sorry for the really late poll this month. For the month of February we thought it would be interesting to see how many of you actually restart your computer when Windows or the operating system you're using recommends you restart to make all changes take effect.
-
I voted "Never unless required". I just can't be bothered saving my data, closing every program I have running and rebooting just to install one application.
-
Never unless required.
It's rare that a reboot is actually necessary, so I don't reboot unless I know I need to, or unless I want to.
-
As a carry over from the old Win95/98 days i always re-boot after the following:
Diskclean
Defrag
Running malware apps
Software installation
Software removal
Adding/removing new devices.
Although many say this is unneccessary on newer versions of Windows i still do it.
Guess i'm a creature of habit but it keeps things smooth.

I will sometimes, when I know I actually need to (though, thats not necessarily only when its absolutely required)
Eg, some Windows Updates, driver updates, etc. Also, when I am not doing anything important. FireFox just saves my data for me, and, well, if I am not chatting, no sense bothering with that, same for email.
As for new devices, if I am using a computer under Windows XP, out of habit, I never restart (thats any plug and play devices)

Never unless required.

Yes, I always do, due entirely to the fact that I don't know any BETTER!
-
When It starts up I have to wait forever for my computer to decide it wants to run without slowing down.

I voted sometimes I only ever reboot if it is absolutely necessary to do so
