I have a balloon that pops up telling me that C:\WINDOWS is corrupted or unreadable Run the chkdsk utility.
How do I do that?
Thanks!
-
What Windows version?
Post EXACT error.
-
Windows XP
I should tell you that I had a previous error where the registry was corrupted and the folks at Dell sent me a disc to reinstall windows XP. After the reinstall I started getting these balloons.
The file or directory \WINDOWS is corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk utility.

sent me a disc to reinstall windows XP
What CD is it? Recovery CD, or Windows XP CD? What does it say?
-
Reinstallation CD
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Service Pack 2
-
Start / Run chkdsk /r and hit Enter...
DO NOT interrupt it ...let it run til complete and re-boot.
