I'm looking for a program that can add a watermark to images in bulk. This isn't the standard watermark where it is overlayed onto the existing image. I want to be able to add, say, 50px to the bottom of the image canvas and write the watermark there on the new white space.
Freeware would be nice but anything will do.

I haven't used this or any watermark programs, but this one surely warrants a look: http://www.watermarkfactory.com/

IrfanView is a popular freeware program that has been recommended by a lot of users on this forum. However, this program doesn't have a watermark editor, or any plug-ins available for that purpose.
Irfanview's forums, however, do recommend the following software for what you want to do and is worth checking out...it's called: Picture Shark (http://www.picture-shark.com/watermark_freeware_image_protect_gallery_default.htm)...and it's free!

I tried both of them and neither works... any other ideas?

Why didn't Picture Shark work ? ?
I'm thinking it wasn't actually tried.

Okay, I tried both ;D here is what happened in picture shark...
Here is what I did. Maybe I'm just forgetting some vital step. This is the original image I want to watermark. (credit to xkcd.org (http://xkcd.org/))

Okay, this is when I first paste the watermark on...

I want to be able to add, say, 50px to the bottom of the image canvas and write the watermark there on the new white space.
And this is when I move the y-offset to outside the original image's canvas, in hope that it would extend the new image to create 21px (in this case) of whitespace on the bottom. Here's what happens in the program...

and heres what happens in to the converted image...

There is no change, because I wanted the watermark outside of the image.
Thanks for all of your help so far!
