Can anyone help? I turn on my computer and the sound works fine for about 30 second. Then all of the sudden all i get is a constant buzz, there no music or coherent sound behind the buzz just a buzz. I checked it against my headphones and the same sound is in the head phones. My speakers work fine on other computers and my ipod. i have deleted the drivers and reinstalled them, i also have updated the drivers, I have had all the old registry cleaned out. i have taken out the old sound card and unistalled it and put in a new one. I don't know what else i can do to fix this problem. please if anyone can help me out that would be great! thanks

Make sure the you're plugging the cord into the correct hole on the sound card (the green one) and that it's going in all the way.

Have you tried to plug another set of speakers into your computer? Did it work ok?

i tried another pair of speakers the same thing happens and i have also checked to make sure it is in the correct jack and it is all the way in

If your sound card is not integrated into the motherboard:
Check that the sound card is in its slot completely.
Make sure no wires are against the sound card.
Reinstall the driver.
Move the sound card to a different slot.
If your sound card is integrated into the motherboard:
Not much you can do here. Reinstall the driver maybe.

nope i checked that too my sound card is all the way in the PCI slot and there are no wires touching the card or laying anywhere one it and i have installed the driver countless times i have even switched PCI slots to check it against other PCI slots on my computer, but i still recieve the buzzing sound and i can not even count the times i have deleted and reinstalled the drivers and i have gone to the creative website because i have a sound blasters audigy just to make sure my drivers are up to date. any other sugestions? i am open to anything else i have not tried

Maybe the sound card is busted.

I bought this sound card because the other sound card did the same thing

Motherboard or power supply then.

i thought it could be the mother board also but i can not figure out why the other card is working on the pci slot, and i don't think it is the power supply plus if the pci slot on the mother board was fried why would the sound card work for the first 30 seconds after i turn on the computer then the buzzing sound kicks in

Because a component such as a capacitor is faulty and weak and breaks down after 30 seconds of use.

ohhh okay, well thats stinks if i have to buy a new mother board, this all started after someone i know installed a bootleg copy of vista on my computer and i deleted it and went back to xp but i could never get ride of the sound card problem thanks for the advise

Try the sound card in another computer if you can, see if you get the same result. If it works ok in the other computer, it's probably the slot or your motherboard. If it is continuing, it's the card.
I bought this sound card because the other sound card did the same thing
I'm guessing because you said this, you won't get the same result, but let's just be sure.
