I have been trying for days to get on www.twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com and haven't been able to. I know the site is up and working, but for some reason, I all of the sudden can't access it.
IE says it cannot open the site. I have 3 computers in my house, two laptops (vista wifi) and a desk top (xp). My ip gave me some crap answer about ip addresses and the backbone used to get to the internet anyway it was just crap, he didn't really want to help me.
What can I do? I have used different links, I have cut and pasted the address, I have shut off my firewall, reinstalled IE, then installed firefox. I have reset my router more than once. I am starting to get mad about it.
Thanks
-
The page doesn't open for me. You sure about the link?
-
When I was talking to my ip a bit ago it worked for him and I have had friends check for me and they have all gotten on.
-
I tried FF, IE, and Opera - no go.
"Ping" command also says, the site is not accessible.
-
Thanks for the help. Do you mind searching for 2peas and using a link that comes up in a search?
-
Your link was wrong: http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/
-
I get the same message from that link. Cannot connect to that site.
-
Both, IE, and FF?
-
Yep, both.
-
What Windows version? What type of internet connection? Do you use router?
-
Are you using your IP's protection package and if so does it include a firewall ? ?
-
Windows 6, dsl connection and yes to the router. I have reset it serveral times and bypassed it too nothing has worked. I have done the ipconfig release/renew suggested on a couple other threads that are similar to mine and that hasn't worked either.
-
I am not using my ip's protection and I have shut off the windows firewall.
-
The first link in the thread does not work, but when I try the second link, it's fine.
-
I know, it isn't the site, it is my computer.
-
What is Windows 6 ? ?
-
Sorry, Windows 6.0.6000.16513. That is the version of Windows is running on my computer.
-
Vista.
-
Yes
-
I just discovered something strange.
If I go to that page, using IP address: http://75.126.184.52/, it gives me an error: Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
Can you guys check?
-
That doesn't work for me, either.
I've been trying to find the IP address for this site. I'm not very experienced at it, but all the tools I use don't seem to want to resolve it. I've come up with two different IP addresses, which don't work.
(I thought if he could reach the site via IP address, we would know it's a DNS resolution issue.)
-
There is a nice Firefox add-on, which will display web site IP in status bar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/590
-
Thanks for the link to that add-on -- I've been meaning to get something like that for a while!
I can ping the address just fine.

Their server is whack. Word.

I've been meaning to get something like that for a while!
Me too. I just found it today :)
-
They are always having problems, so I am not surprised to find out that their server is messed up.
-
Oh, I was just kind of joking, but it is a strange situation. One could surf the 'net via IP addresses -- the domain names make life easier. This is the first time I've visited a site where I could reach it via domain name, but not by IP address.

Which can only mean one thing...there's some re-direction going on for whatever reason.
-
I am getting ready to go to the library and I am taking my laptop with me. I am wondering if I will be able to get on the site while I am there.
If I can, what does that tell you about the problem I am having?
-
This is the first time I've visited a site where I could reach it via domain name, but not by IP address.
Yeah, usually it's the other way around.
-
If I can
Let us know...
-
Ta Da! At the library I can connect.
Now, why can't I connect from home???
-
Must be...

-
Just kidding...
-
Ok, I am back home and I cannot connect.
Seriously, does anyone have any ideas??
-
Go Start>Run, type in:
cmd
Click OK.
In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Restart computer.
-
I have already done this a few times. I will try again.
-
Steps repeated, still no connection.
-
So I did another google search and found a site called The Cloak and if I try to get on through that site, I can connect.
Could my ip some how have been blocked?
-
I doubt...
In Windows XP, go Start>Run
In Vista, go Start>StartSearch
Type in:
cmd
In Windows XP, click OK.
In Vista, hit Enter.
Command Prompt window will open.
Type in:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll (<----watch for "space" after "regsvr32")
Hit Enter.
Repeat same regsvr32 command for following files:
wuaueng.dll
wucltui.dll
wups.dll
wuweb.dll
atl.dll
softpub.dll
wintrust.dll
initpki.dll
mssip32.dll
softpub.dll
wintrust.dll
initpki.dll
dssenh.dll
rsaenh.dll
gpkcsp.dll
sccbase.dll
slbcsp.dll
cryptdlg.dll
Restart computer, and try to access web site(s) in question again.

... This is the first time I've visited a site where I could reach it via domain name, but not by IP address.
It is hosted by a virtual server. When your browser sends the request, it also sends the host name so the virtual server can match up the request with the correct page.
Domaintools.com says (http://whois.domaintools.com/kaboose.com) the kaboose.com server (i.e. that IP address) hosts 312 other sites.
But that's nothing. The server my website is on hosts over 900 sites with one IP address.
-
So if the domain name doesn't resolve on a virtual server, you're done -- you don't get to your target site. The server must be blocking the original poster's IP address.

I actually talked to the company yesterday and was told that they are having technical difficulties. Some people can get on and some people can't. I am obviously one who can't. I am glad to know that it isn't something on my end.
Thanks for all the help and time, I appreciate it!
-
Well, as much as I try to avoid it, I learned a few things, too. ;)

Very good..
