Title: Outlook problem ( not outlook express)
Post by: Sparkie on June 26, 2008, 12:19:09 PM
I can't receive my email messages in Outlook.  I receive err OX800ccc92 saying email server rejected your login. ERR mailbox is not available.  I did contact my email provider which is Bell Sympatico.  They checked everything and said the problem must be with Microsoft.  They checked my computer remote and also tested email by sending a message to hotmail which did get through.  I have no idea how to correct the problem or what the problem is. The window saying enter Network password keeps coming up over and over again.  Any help will be much appreciated  I use Windows XP SP2.

Welcome to Computer Hope.

What version of Outlook is it? Are you using POP or IMAP?

I am using Office 2003 which includes Outlook.  Had no problem until yesterday when this suddenly started.

I did try the microsoft site for Outlook 2003 but to no avail.
The screen for Password does not normally show, but now it pops up continually and then the error message comes up after that.

Sparkie...

This may be caused by your antivirus software changing your login information in Outlook.

Have you double checked your Outllook settings to make sure nothing has changed?

Also...you can try deleting that account in Outlook and using the login information provided by your ISP to re-create the account.

Another cause of this is that there may be an old account in Outlook you no longer use...and because of that fact...may be failing authentication.

One more item to check...is the Servers tab for that account and make sure the following is not checked:  Secure Password Authentication Account

Keep us posted...

My ISP checked everything out by my giving them permission to hook to my computer remote.  After everthing checked out ok they then tested sending a message to me using hotmail.  It was received ok and so they said the problem was with Microsoft Outlook.  I guess my only option is to delete and reinstall Outlook as you mentioned.  Thanks

I did not say to delete and reinstall Outlook.

I said...to try deleting the account and then recreate it using the information provided by your ISP.

No problem...

Are you trying to access your Hotmail account through Outlook?

If so, you may want to look at this:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/878462

Another link you may want to look at:  WikiHow (http://www.wikihow.com/Configure-Outlook-(not-Outlook-Express)-to-Work-With-Hotmail)

Thanks to everyone for your input.  I tried everything but nothing seemed to work. I even downloaded Reg Cure and ran it but nothing changed with the fixes.  Then one day suddenly my emails began coming through again.  Still am not sure why this happened.  My computer is still running slow so a friend is coming over tomorrow to have a look but at least Outlook appears to be working for the moment. Thanks again for your help ... all of you.
