How is the cooling?

If you download Speed Fan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php), can you please tell us the temperature(s) it lists.

Has his always happened?
Does it happen when you do something specific (like play a game) or does it happen in general?

Here's the information you asked me....

Speed fan says:
Core 0: 0. 75
Core 1: 1.76

The lowest I notice:
Core 0: 0. 71
Core 1: 1.71

The highest I notice:
Core 0: 0. 76
Core 1: 1.76

Well there's your problem!

Your computer is shutting down automatically to prevent itself from being fried...

I even have a fan directly to it. What else can I do to solve it?

Note: How should a normal computer's temperature be?

If you could get a better fan it would probably do better but it's a laptop so that might be hard.

Can you make sure the laptop is clean (free of dust that may be obstructing the air flow)

What type of surface are you working on?

I'm using a wooden table, like the once you use to eat in front of the TV. Also, I putting the fan (that's on the back left side of the computer), completely open and free of anything that might obstruct the flow of air. I will check right now for any dust.

By fan do you mean something like this:

Ah, I checked for dust and is totally clean. But it's still higher than Core 0: 74C and Core 1: 1.74C

Question:
Does the amount of open windows does anything to the temperature of the computer?

I would suggest putting it at the side of the computer.

For my laptop, I use something like this:

It cools my laptop down significantly.
If you don't know what that is, this google search should help:

They can get a little expensive but it's worth it.

As for your question, basically the more the processor has to work the more heat it will give off. I wouldn't say 'how many windows open' but 'how many Large Programs or Games are open'.

**Large programs can include Image Processing software (such as Corel Draw or Macromedia Flash).

So you get an idea of my computer use...

Right now I have:
1. 2 browsers open (and in serious use).
2. A game call "Wonderland Online", where I have 4 characters (4 windows of the game's program) at play at the same time.
3. Running a backup (I do that once a week).
4. Running the antivirus ( I do that daily).

Note: I'm checking your suggestion and I think I'll get one between today or at the latest by Saturday next week.

I think the game (and maybe the browser) is contributing the most to your heat-up.

Whilst backing up, I think it would go faster and be a lot less strainious on your Processor, thus giving off less heat, if you close the browser and the game.

You are right in so many ways and the worst is that I know it...  :-[ :-[

I've another laptop that I could use (at the same time as this) so that none have excessive work on their Processor. The only problem is that I keep having trouble when I try to connect to the Net with the other one.  :'( :'(

1. What keep says basically is: "Limited Connectivity".
2. The Ethernet Controller has a yellow question mark on it, when you see it in the "Device Manager".

That means there is a problem with the device.
Try Reinstalling the driver should fix it.

You can do this by going to the Manufacturer's website, look for the right driver and installing it.

I have to go now, it's kind of late here. If there is anything else, I'm sure someone will be glad to help. (of course i'll be back)  ;)

My computer also kept shutting down by itself. Diagnosis: the battery was dead. Even if i had plugged on the computer to the wall outlet, it turned out that my power cord was defective -- it was not transmitting any electric power to the computer. So the computer just relied on the battery-- which gradually got depleted. A new power cord with new Power Module fixed the problem.

Nothing wrong with the fan. No problem with overheating.

I agree with him. I will use this on my overheating PC too.
