Title: help with cd-rw problems
Post by: patsy42301 on July 25, 2008, 09:42:02 AM
I'm running windows xp service pack 2 i have 550 MHz of ram.2 months ago i bought a liteon 52xcd-rw&16xdvd-rom 5 days ago it just quit burning blank CD i thought maybe it was the machine so i took it back and got me another one different brand it would still not work so took it back tried another still no luck so i got me another new one yesterday it is the same one i had before the lite on. when i go to my computer i see 2 CD drives lite-on ltr-24102B and a atapi dvd c DH52C2P.Everytime i try to burn a music CD it tells me to put a blank CD in drive E so i tried this and it still tells me the same thing.I can play recorded music CD but i can not burn in any of the Rom's i have.I fell maybe it is a simple thing to fix and i can not afford 65.00 for maybe a 30 minute fix.If anybody can please help me i would appreciate thank you.

Does Windows OS detect this drive as a CD/DVD Drive or just a CD Rom Drive in My Computer? If just detecting the drive as a CD Rom, then you have to go into the hardware manager and tell the OS that it is a CD/DVD-R or RW Drive.

What software are you using to burn media?  Have you tried reinstalling the software you use to burn media?

Iam not sure what you mean by Windows OS but when i go into my computer i see 2 different ones and they are DVD\CD-RW DRIVE(D) and CD-RW DRIVE(E) Sorry iam not computer smart but i did not have this problem untill i hooked up a mp3 player to it and deleted the music on it and i think i might have done something bad to my computer. I have been using Maxell blank cd's if that is what you mean by software or do you mean the program which is windows media 10 i tried nero and i tried to upgrade to wmp 11 but it still tells me the same thing (put a blank cd in drive e. Can you please tell me how to go into the hardware manager and do the OS thing.
