I receive emails with blue lines on the left side. They seem impossible to remove. One person thinks they come from AOL. Does anyone know anything about this?

I receive emails with blue lines on the left side.
Blue lines where, in the email?

I belong to a few informal groups that forward jokes etc. to other members. MANY of the emails I receive have blue lines on them. On the Left side. I have spent an inordinate amount of effort trying to get rid of them and they won't go away when I try to forward the email. Should I include one? I presume I can add an attachement here.

You mean vertical lines, right? I think you'll find your solution here: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6638_102-0.html?forumID=15&threadID=267150&messageID=2601575

Thanks, Mr/Ms. Soy. However, I use Outlook and cannot find a similar link/checkbox/option to the one in the Cnet forum thread. I wonder where these blue lines come from? How do they get there? Are they table or section borders? Thanks.

Those marks get there due to settings in the senders email client. For example, with Windows Mail (Windows Vista), this setting is shown in this screen print:

Outlook Express has the same setting.
I found a setting in Outlook 2007 that would enable the feature. Apparently, the default setting upon installation of Office is Disable. If you want to know where the setting is in Outlook, let me know. I have Outlook 2003 on another ccmputer.
Are they table or section borders?
I'm not sure of the exact technical classification, but I see I can remove them by going into the Source view in Windows Mail and removing some code lines.

On AOL, to rid your e mails of the blue lines on the left side do this: Go to "SETTINGS " on your AOL toolbar at the top of your screen. Once you have clicked into settings, click ok " A to Z, " or " Show ALL Categories. " Click on " e Mail Settings. " A screen will come up. Look at the very bottom of that screen. The last option. There are 3 options, with three circles. Click the circle that says " None. " Then click " Save." Log off of AOL. Log back onto AOL. Now, when you forward an e mail, the blue lines will be gone. This works on ALL Versions of AOL. Now, if you could only get everyone else on AOL to do the same thing, there wouldn't be ANY blue lines. Hope this helps. ;)
