You should know that Advanced computer users may have scripts that run with an autorun on the USB that will copy your personal information but I wouldn't worry about this.

Can this be prevented? what is the best method?

Please let me know...I am facing similar problem

Thanks

I went ahead and split this topic.

What is the problem? Just to clarify, this is a USB Flash Drive Autorun.

There are mainly three problems

1) Usb drive is not recognized at all

2) iF RECOGNIZED the access to the drive in the USB will be denied

3) If given access also, the autorun virus (as you told) will access to the registry, make modifications. Due to this whenever you double click on the drive in the USB, you get OPENWITH window.

I need a permanent solution for this.

Thanks

I would direct you to the malware specialists but, if i'm correct, I have dealt A LOT with this type of virus.

In fact, I will direct you to the Malware Specialists in a moment but I just want to know if this is the Kavo Virus.

First, to test this, go to Notepad (Start --> Run --> Notepad and press Enter)
Leave it blank, go to File --> Save As --> and save the name as the exact following ntdelect.com
Copy and paste this to C:\ and tell me exactly what happens.

After that, or if you want to get ahead or you don't trust me (:P), you can have a look here:

I did the same as you told

as soon as I saved it, it turned out a dos application format. Now I cut and pasted it to c:
and double clicked on it I got error C:\ntdelect.com is not a valid win32 application.

what next?
thanks

Ok, that means I'm wrong.  :-X

Go ahead and follow the Malware Removal guide. We need the three logs.
