Hi, I use Windows XP, and I recently tried to renew my McAfee Memebership. When I started the download manager, it said it was unable to connect to the internet. I then tried some other programs, and they won't connect either, including Napster, Itunes, Internet Explorer, etc. The only thing that will connect to the internet is Firefox. I tried resetting my wireless network multiple times, I tried plugging my computer directly into the router, I tried taking down the firewall, I tried adding the programs to the firewall exceptions list, I tried lowering the security on my internet options menu, I just don't know where to go from here. I feel like I've tried everything and nothing works. I even downloaded a new version of IE yesterday and that didn't work either. Any suggestions? :-\

What is your setup like? Are you using cable or dsl?
You can try to unplug the modem and your router and shut your computer off.
Wait about 1 or 2 mins than plug your modem back in and wait 1 or 2 mins. Than plug your router back in and wait about 2 mins than boot your computer and see if you can get on the web....

I'm using a cable modem. I've tried turning everything off and back on, it didn't work.

Did you try to connect the computer straight to the modem, bypassing router?
Did you try Safe Mode with Networking?

I resolved the problem by completely uninstalling and reinstalling internet explorer. Thank you all for your help.
