Post by: a.w. on August 22, 2008, 07:03:56 AM
got a dell dimension 4550 2.43ghz processor with 1 gb ram.160gb hard drive, partitioned with c,d,e,drives.running xp pro on c drive(still doing great).i installed vista ultimate on d drive with no problems, during installation prompted me to hit enter to select operating system.when i finished and rebooted it came up with xp pro(no option for oprerating system).checked boot.ini file and it only shows xp pro.i've seen two operating systems on one computer but i'm lost.i also have an external hd with 320gb.windows shows on d drive but how can i boot to it?I hope i didn't mess up.thanks in advance a.w. :)

If D:\ is an external drive this will not work without a sledgehammer and about 3 days of effort...

Look into VistaBootPro.

You're more than Welcome...and Welcome Aboard !

Another option would also be to purchase a 2nd drive and use your BIOS to switch between the 2 at startup time...cleanest method.
