Post by: jimmib on August 31, 2008, 12:00:31 PM
Is this software worth the money or are the freebies just as good? :)

Spybot
Win Patrol
Stinger ( on demand Trojan scan )

Well, this is my preference. Also 100% FREE.

Avira AV-with firewall disabled, but use;
Comodo Firewall for firewall
Win Patrol
Threatfire

Also free: a) real time protection: 1) Avast! (AV and anti-Spyware), 2) Spyware Terminator, 3) SpyWareBlaster (actually, passive); b) on demand: 1) Spybot, 2) SUPERAntiSpyware, 3) Windows Defender (wants to run real time but I usually use it on demand).

Best of luck.

I like to use ViRobot.  It's not free, but it does take cares of spyware and viruses.

I have no idea how much it costs, but there is a 30 day trial.  http://www.hauri.net/

Thanks guys. I just happened across a write-up on it and they claimed it to be the best thing since sliced bread. I will stick with my freebie's. :)

Yes, me too, and I thought Superantispyware blaster was just a scanner?!?!?

What is "Superantispyware blaster"? Are you talking about SUPERAntiSpyware or SpyWareBlaster? Or something else?
