Set cd/dvd as primary in the bios...

By this, do you mean that you made the optical drive the first device in the boot order?

Is there an LED on the monitor?  Does in show green or amber?

Is the data cable of the monitor attached to the correct connection on the motherboard?

Is it on-board (built-in) video, or running from an installed video card?

Please access the AMI BIOS and see if you can find the settings for on-board video support to see if it is enabled.  (This assumes you have another monitor available.)
