Title: Remote access to my home network
Post by: ringbinder on September 29, 2008, 06:21:04 AM
Hello,

I have a home network:  1 PC running Win XP Pro SP2,  1 Sony Vaio notebook running Win XP Pro SP2, 1 Acer Aspire notebook running Win Vista Home Premium, 1 MacBook running OS X 10.4   All this connected via a Belkin wireless router.

I have one more Acer Aspire notebook which I will use on the road and I want to be able to access my home network to share data, etc. and for my desktop PC to access data on the roaming Acer.   How can I do that ?  Does it mean I need a VPN ?   I tried reading about OpenVPN but was completely bamboozled by jargon.   If a VPN is the only way to do this, then can someone please explain how to do it in simple terms and words of very few syllables ?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give and please excuse if this has been covered before and I have been unable to find a suitable thread.

Thanks Cohen, a quick try of Logmein seems to work well.  That could be my easy solution.
Thanks for your help.
