Post by: larrytbird on October 07, 2008, 06:10:36 PM
My computer system Bord went out, Would like to hook up as a slave to another computer and retrieve data from it. The operating system is XP on both, can this be done.

Wow...that was specific...

Are you familiar with how to set the jumpers on a Maxtor hard drive?  If not...you can find the settings at Maxtor's website:  http://seagate.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/seagate.cfg/php/enduser/stx_alp.php?p_search_text=jumpers&p_new_search=1

At the above link, based on what type of drive you have, you can configure your drive as a slave, and connect it to the IDE cable of the other computer where that drive is set as the Master.

You should then be able to browse the slave for any files you want to retrieve.

Read his post again...

Where does he specify transferring files?  Does he not ask if he can slave a drive on another computer?
