I don't play on-line RPGs.  If, however, you're interested in a few off-line RPGs, I can recommend some.  I possess very little knowledge of on-line RPGs.

If you're not against text adventures and you can get in on a good server, Legend of the Green Dragon provides hours of fun.  I also used to really enjoy Waterdeep, but it has gone way downhill over the years.

I got a good reply even if the OP is not coming back.
There are TONS of older abandonware/freeware RPGs you can find if you dont mind 90ies and 00s graphics.
I found great pleasure in many old gems that are legaly available for free.

Maybe check the relevant sites like http://homeoftheunderdogs.net/ , they have huge lists of old games that are now free to download legaly due to the devs closing store and abandoning the IPs :)

BC, it takes time to learn a new language. Be patient. Eventually you will understand if more fully.

you can't "abandon" a copyright or intellectual property. The only reason it's safe is because there is no company left to sue you for infringing on their copyright, not because that copyright no longer exists.

Quote
Proponents of abandonware argue that it is more ethical to make copies of such software than new software that still sells. Those ignorant of copyright law have incorrectly taken this to mean that abandonware is legal to distribute, although no software written since 1964 is old enough for copyright to have expired( at least in the US). Even in cases where the original company no longer exists, the rights usually belong to someone else, though no one may be able to trace actual ownership, including the owners themselves.

BC, Your morality is commendable.
It appears that such noble traits are in the minority.
But somebody said: "God and one man are a majority."

Doing a Google one 'abandonware legality'
There is this item:

USA Legalizes Abandonware - Digg
Dec 4, 2006 ... Suddenly, the supposed abandonware becomes illegal to distribute again. ... a dangerous situation by spreading that ware is now legal. ...

""A man with God is always in the majority." ~ John Knox"

""Any man more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one". ~ Henry David Thoreau"

""One on God's side is a majority" ~ Wendell Phillips"

I think he may be saying that the God to which he refers is the Norse god Loki.

Although I will humour him, and assume he is using the most common definition which is the abrahamic god.

So, despite the ramblings of a few random people who can be quoted saying those things, the question remains-

How would somebody know they are on "god's side"? And what does it have to do with anything in this thread?

That's mainly what I was getting at.  This is meant to be a video game discussion on a computer forum.  Neither subject has anything to do with religion.

The intent of the comment was to make not of BC's rather high standard of morality about using a product , a video game, that belongs to someone who has not defended their rights fully. It would appear that his position is a minority viewpoint.

Hear Ye , thou shalt put religion in thy post.

But is it  alright to talk about Minority Morality Mentality? (AKA 3M.)

Quote
""Any man more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one". ~ Henry David Thoreau"

Is that acceptable? Or if somebody is more right than others his righteousness  --it becomes a religion? If that is the case, why not talk about hacks and cracks?

If we find that a majority of the members believe it is alright to steal software if you no not get caught, then it becomes logical to discuss the matter. Logically, to refuse to discus acceptable criminal behavior would therefor be tantamount to promotion of righteousness and therefore advocating a religion. Is that correct?

May I make a post about how to get Windows 7 free? Others do it on their blogs. Nobody stops them .It must therefore be a good secular practice. If you tell me no, you are defending sanctimonious righteousness.

I'm not even going to try to make sense of that.  Let's just stick with the topic at hand, shall we?

Wow, It's amazing that stating the fact that Intellectual Property doesn't magically go to the public domain and become free would cause such a tirade of bullocks in it's purest form.

I never said anything about Morals. Stop constructing straw man arguments. I never said it was alright, or not alright, to steal software. I never said anything about piracy at all. I just stated that IPs can't be abandoned and their products don't become free. Nothing more, nothing less. I was stating a fact. They said it was Legally free. I said it was not. That is all.
