Title: Problem
Post by: Ivy on October 19, 2008, 06:18:08 AM
I have been downloading some software and like Dreamweaver and Visual Basic etc, the whole download completes, the installation completes but when I try to run the program it says ''dreamweaver has encountered a problem and needs to close''

I wonder why this keeps happening, I need these software!

Thankyou

I'm using windows xp pro, Firefox for browser, Comodo for firewall and AVG for antivirus!

There's no problem with VB, is there?

I installed a Dreamweaver trial before and the same thing happened...
Have you tried a (very, very long) reinstall?

This download is not compatible with your operating system, Ivy.

That's why you're getting the error from Windows about Dreamweaver encountering an error and having to shut down.

It was one of dreamweavers given in the link that I downloaded...

What about Visual Basic?

I found this place, will This (http://www.download.com/Visual-Basic-5-0-Runtime-Module/3000-2070_4-10009051.html) be okay, it says nothing about compatibility  though, I wonder what the best places would be to download Visual Basic and Dreamweaver for free.

Do you need Dreamweaver for designing a browser? I thought it would be written in C or C++...

Why don't you download the trial of Dreamweaver from Adobe?

Okay , its been 5 days, I ordered that dreamweaver thing and they said they'd email me but no email!

Now a friend of mine suggested NVU, but then I  found that NVU had  bug problems and I could not get Nvu, since it had been removed from the repositories , I researched a little on it (actually for 4 hours) , and finally found  this (http://www.kompozer.net/) Kompozer is supposed to be easy to use and had WYSIWYG editor seen in Nvu.

Here's the trouble,I downloaded from the first Link (http://www.kompozer.net/download.php) from the website, but on extracting the files , something goes wrong, and then when I try to run the program I get this message(screenshot attachment).

Anybody has any Ideas at all??

Thanks for the help!

I should have specifically warned you away from Nvu, but that's why I didn't recommend it.  Let me know what you think of Kompozer.  I've never used it.

I'll just simply write my codes in notepad.

The right choice, IMO. If you want to be a professional web designer, you'd be better off writing the code yourself.
If you're stuck with anything, don't forget W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/).

Hold on, Visual Basic .NET is not Visual Basic...

I imagine the VB 5 link was the Control Creation Edition.

What did you want to use VB5 for, Ivy?
