Title: Slow Internet Speed
Post by: doulton on October 21, 2008, 05:51:19 PM
Hi All,
I use XP Pro,IE 6 With a broadband Internet connection via a Linksys router.I an connected via Newnet ISP.Up until recently this ISP has proved excellent.I am used to speeds at approx 6Mbps on a 8 Mbps promise.About 2 months ago things started to go wrong ,and speeds varied between 1to 3.5 Mbps Acting on the advice of Newnet I changed my Modem to this new Router.NO change.  After several further discussions and monitoring of speed at various times ,my ISP now informs me that this is a congestion issue at my local exchange,I am within 660 mts of it,and that nothing further can be done.
Does anyone know if any redress or explanation one may obtain at any GPO contact. My normal phone operator cannot help.
                   Thank You.

Sure.
Contact your provider and tell them their competition has offered the same plan for 20 Bucks a month cheaper and better consistency...
That usually gets the ball rolling.
