Welcome Harry...
For a bit more info on the machine involved DLoad; install and run Everest Home (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,61970.0.html) from here...
Run a log; save it as a .txt file and post the Computer Summary portion here and we'll take a look...
In the meantime let us know any new hardware or software installed recently ?
Any power problems ?
List your protection programs you currently have installed as well...

Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under line Debug - PCI
-

What do you mean by: "it comes up " v/class ""?
How far does it boot, before it freezes?
-
when i turn on the monitor and tower you would see numbers and 2 codes for a few seconds and then go to v-class and then on to open the desktop
some times it frooze on v-class so i pressed the tower button to close down and pressed it to start up and there was no problem the second time
if there was a problem the pc would run a check before it opened , as you know
harry
-
I'm still not sure what is "v-class" screen. What brand of computer is it?
-
it is a TIME pc i think its just their start up logo i have been on the web and looked them up its a good pc 5 years old
-
I've never heard of Time computers, but in any case, your computer freezes sometimes at computer manufacturer logo, right?
1. Do you have any USB devices connected to it?
2. Run memtest: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html
-
logitech webcam
seagate storage device
-
Disconnect both USB devices, and see how your computer starts for couple of days.
-
i would also put in a doggle sometimes
-
doggle??
-
its a device to download photos of a phone that has no pc lead ( an old phone ) for an old man like me
-
What you connect AFTER computer starts OK, doesn't matter.
-
Dongle... ;)
-
patio , a bluetooth ubs dongle for phones etc
broni , i downloaded memtest but there is no-were to make it run is it running in the back ground and there is nothing on the desktop from it
-
Harry
You need to follow instructions given to you.
Read carefully at this link: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html, which I provided before.
It has step-by-step instructions how to use memtest.
-
broni , i have a memtset file on the desktop but to big to send i went to the place you sent me and it will not let me download , harry
by the way was the last file i sent ok ?
-
Harry
Did you read my link? You need to create memtest CD.
What do you want to download, since you have memtest on your desktop?
What file did you send, and where?
-
ok i will start again
the file i posted on page 2 here
-
Reply #, please.
-
i followed as far as i know what was said
took the file and burnt a cd and ran it ( 3 times ) and it did not go
so i tried and looked for boot and can not find it
i think i may give up on this one what do you think
harry
ok broni i had to restart my pc and the disk went on its own mybe thats it working
-
Do you see screen like this:
-
nothing , blank screen
-
Is your computer set in BIOS to boot from CD?
-
i do not know what it is or how to do it , sorry
-
When your computer starts, at some point, you'll see at the bottom of black (yet) screen:
Press "some key" to enter setup.
Press "some key", and you'll get to BIOS.
Look for "boot order", or simply "boot". You'll see something like this:
Make sure, that your boot order reads:
- floppy drive
- CD drive
- hard disk
