Title: Windows movie maker
Post by: sarifka on January 11, 2009, 08:20:21 AM
I would like to copy the videos from my Nikon Coolpix camera to play on Windows Movie Maker so that I can create a movie. However, I keep getting an error message that the codec is not installed on my computer. I've already installed Apple Quicktime and that did not solve this issue.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Ah, forgive me. I misread your topic.

I thought you were having trouble watching the videos. I assume you can watch them in VLC Media Player though?

Anyways, you want to import them into Windows Movie Maker.
What format are these videos in?

They're MOV files. I can watch them in VLC and quicktime. Trouble starts when I try importing them into Windows Movie Maker.

Strange....I can't even get Windows Movie Maker to see my .mov files.

Try this, Sarifka.

Use this converter program:

Convert your files to .avi (under WMV in the program).

After they're converted, WMM should be able to recognize them.

Is there any way to convert these files without their logo in the center of the imported video? thanks for your help!

You can try the codec package if you want.

The program I suggested (Quick Media Converter) doesn't leave a logo.

Thanks a lot for your advice, it worked perfectly!!

Now for another question...
I want to publish the movie I created. I have a CD-R. I am getting an error "The disc is not a recordable (CD-R) or writable (CD-R/RW) CD.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
Sara
