Post by: az284eddie on January 13, 2009, 09:39:10 PM
Problems with <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. I also been having the same problem. As many others have been experiencing. if you notice in the bar says system32. Meaning 32bit. Your system just may be 64bit. And so as I have been researching and asked several technicians. They have said And I have seen az far az looking for a used 64 bit Xp pro CD. they are 64bit Xp pro and there are 32bit Xp pro..  I have seen classifieds saying
Date: 2009-01-15, 1:14PM Selling Windows XP Pro 32 Bit w/SP3, Windows XP Pro 64-bit w/SP2 (there is no SP3 for 64bit XP yet) and Windows Vista Ultimate w/SP1 (32bit or 64bit) All are fully update-able and will have no problems with using.
XP Pro - $40
Vista - $60
And so I say to you is your system a 32bit or 64bit. when you turn on your pc. the window says what kind of bits you have. let me know it this insighthas helped you.

when the computer first reboots during the install, don't boot from the CD but rather from your hard drive. (remove the Disc if necessary, or just don't push a key on the "press any key to boot to CD" prompt)

I forgot to mention. I loaded my other PC with the same CD and it installed just fine.

It's not the drive...
This means you did something different the first time...

XP 32 will run fine on a 64bit machine...so this isn't the issue either.
