I have tried to install webshots desktop on my new computer and cannot do it.
I get the following screens:
1. Please wait while webshots checks your system for previously installed componants.
2. a short time after this begins to run an error comes up that says:
An error has occurred and we must quit. Below that the message is
"Installer must quit."
No remedies can be found. As a free user, I cannot get any help from them.
As webshots on my old computer is the heart and soul of my picture programs, I really need it on the new one.
FYI: I have c-cleaner and reg-cure installed
-
What Windows version?
-
I have exactly the same problem, I tried to run the installer as administrator but I got another error message, my machine run on XP SP3.
Thanks for any hint

In what i have seen over the years Webshots is a poorly written program.
-
I've been using Webshots for numbers of years, never had a problem. I'm using 3.0.0.7229 version, and I can see, it's at 3.1.3.7504 version now. However, over last couple of days I saw reports from 3 people already about some problems.
If anyone interested, ver. 3.0.0.7243 can be downloaded from here: http://webshots-desktop.10001downloads.com/
-
Used your link and tried to download and got a "Cannot access this webpage" message. I'm afraid these dowloads have been removed.

Cool ;D
-
I think I got the wrong link
it opened a chrome window (odd, since I don't have chrome) and it said, "Transferring account contents to Broni..."
and then, "Transfer Complete"
then, it said, "pilfering account activity... "
and lastly, "complete. have a nice (and cheap) day."

Well, I got the Webshots 3.0.0.7231 to download to my machine. The next problem is that nothing in my "webshots Data" folder will transfer into the program. I've opened the contents folder and tried to drag the pictures into the open desktop but it rejects them as not being the right file. Webshots instructions DO NOT WORK. any more ideas out there?
-
You can't just drag them, you have to import them.

That is what I've tried. There is a "collections" folder in my "my documents"
that contains all my pictures. When I try to select it for import using your suggested method and select my documents, the folder "collections" does not appear. only the webshots data folder. I tried importing that and I get an error message and it closes.

My Webshots pictures are kept in ...... \Documents\Webshots Data\album-xxxxx
-
My files are stored the same except that the data album contains a "collections" along with the albums containing pictures.
Please see http//www.webshots.com/support/help/10302.html.
These are the instructions that did not work for me.
Thanks for hanging with me on this. Bechap

I'm not sure, what to tell you at this point. Maybe you should just start from the scratch, getting new bunch of pictures.
-
Thanks again for hanging with me. I did find a way to get about 55 of the pictures into one of my new folders but that's out of 200 I left behind.
You're right of course, it is time to move on and get new ones.
I appreciate your time and at least you got me the program!
Have a GREAT day! Bechap

Ello all,
I know this may be redundant, but I have had Webshots on three computers, including this one, for some unknown reason, and all the checks were done..... virus, spyware, etc..... I lost my desk top and icons and it would not run in any form of the safe mode, thusly neither would the system recovery.
So (this is a Compaq 2007, Windows XP Media Edition) had a partition with a recovery programme, and it warned and stated that all things would be returned to Factory specs.. I sighed and said whatever makes it function again..... so I went with it.
In the process of reinstalling the basic programmes, which went without issue, webshots, consistently had a red window that gave two choices, saying Webshots is already installed on this computer,
Choices:
Repair Webshots
Uninstall Webshots
Needless to say...... neither worked as I could not install a Webshots Desktop to download any of the countless photos I had for wall paper.
It tells me an exception .... cancel or debug.... neither has any results..... I had a registry programme search of any remnants of the install or programme.... and all it found was in Administrate downloads, the install package.
ANY HELP..
I Miss my Webshots!!!! :(
Thank you very much
