I have searched the internet and this site as much as I can. I am about to give up .\
I downloaded DAP to give it a try, big mistake. When I found it wasn't all it was cracked up to be and of no help I uninstalled it. However the SpeedBitVideoAccelorator will not uninstall. Now since uninstalling DAP I am unable to download anything normally without it vanishing from my system the instant it finishes downloading.
I take that back I can still download things but the only way is if it is a picture file I want to keep I have to open paint and put the url for the item into the file open box. and in order to download files or Zips/rar. I have to open winzip and put the url into the file open box. Ack what a pain all that is when I am used to just right clicking and poof there it was saved right where I told it to.
I contacted windows vista online help and they weren't any help they kept saying it was a site problem or a mozilla problem. I am convinced that it is not because it doesn't matter which browser I am using and the problem happens at multiple sites.
Here is my system info. I have no clue what to do I have tried a mutitude of things.

Let's see if we can find it then remove it.
Download random's system information tool (RSIT) (http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe) by random/random from and save it to your Desktop.
- Double click on RSIT.exe to run.
- Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
- Once it has finished, two logs will open.
- log.txt <will be maximized and info.txt <will be minimized
- Please post the contents of both logs in the next reply.
-
Posting as attachements files to large. Thank you so much evilfantasy for helping

It looks like there is an autorun worm as well as at least one other malicious file. We will take care of that as well.

Now navigate to this folder: C:\Program Files\SpeedBit Video Accelerator
Open the SpeedBit Video Accelerator folder and see if there is an uninstaller it. If so run it. If not then let me know.
-
tried but still cannot download any files unless they are in rar format, so I can just paste the file to my winzip and then it will copy it and i can save it from there.
do you know by any chance where I can get these tools I need in a rar or zip format?
I cannot seem to duplicate the manor in which I was able to download RSIT.exe ???
I am so frustrated with this I am about ready to wipe all 250 gigs I have downloaded and reinstall vista.
-
Read my whole post please.
Now navigate to this folder: C:\Program Files\SpeedBit Video Accelerator
Open the SpeedBit Video Accelerator folder and see if there is an uninstaller it. If so run it. If not then let me know.
-
I forgot about yuor downloading problems so sorry about the OTMoveIt step. We can do it another way if needed.
-
I'm sorry , I was upset and missed the part about the uninstaller, yes there is one but when I try to use it, I get Unable to read install.log, even though there is one in the folder
-
OK we can still remove it with Revo.
Download
Revo Uninstaller (http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html)
Open the folder where the SpeedBit Video Accelerator uninstaller is located and Right-click the uninstaller and choose Send to > Desktop (Create shortcut)
Now open Revo and click on Hunter Mode.
You now have a little target icon. Drag and drop the target on to the Uninstaller shortcut and it will begin the uninstallation.
Important: If you get an error that the uninstaller failed still continue on with the below steps. It may be a little different but you should be able to find your way through.
Once you drag and drop the Hunter target:
- Choose Advanced Mode
- This will launch the programs built in uninstaller and go through the normal uninstall process.
- Once complete: In Revo Uninstaller click Next and Revo will scan the registry for leftovers.
- This scan can take several seconds.
- Once the results are shown look at each one to ensure they are all related to the program that was uninstalled.
- Choose Select All then click Delete
- Click Next and Revo will scan for any files or folders that were not removed.
- If any files/folders are found choose Select all > Delete
.
Let me know how that went.
[/list]
-
After much trail and error was finally able to save revo and ran it. Deleted registry items and leftover files related to the speed program
-
OK can you go back and run the OTMoveIt step now? Still the malware issue lingering...
-

-

-
What happens when you try to save it?
-
it just disappears like it was doing before. I tried saving it like i did the others as one would normally. I tried having it open in another application. I tried saving it into a zipped file. None of it worked.
-
Are you using IE?
Re-register MsiExec
- Go to Start > Run
- Type or Copy and Paste the following:
- MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER then hit enter.
- Then again Start > Run
- Now type or Copy and Paste the following:
- MSIEXEC /REGSERVER then hit enter.
.
No visible change will take place. Try to install/uninstall again.

let me see if I can explain it better than I did on the post before last. If I try to donwload from sites that the link is not directly to the file I want, but to another site holding the file, for example:
but if I find a site that the download link is a direct .zip or .rar file (like stove.zip)
then I can open and save it by using winzip new file and pasting the direct web link into it.
so I searched for the MoveIt til I found a site I could get it in the zip form direct from the web page. I wasn't cursing LOL the site is "BleepingCompute"
-
Yea I'm familiar with BleepingComputer.
This is an issue I've never seen before so I'm not sure how to attack it.
I put these two files into a zip file so you can get to and download them easily (hopefully). Just unzip them and run as described in the instructions.
http://www.filedropper.com/repairpermissions
1)
* Download and run fixacl.exe
* It only takes a second and then move on to FixPolicies.
2)
* Double click on FixPolicies.exe to run it.
* Click on Install. It will create a folder named FixPolicies on your desktop.
* Open the FixPolicies folder.
* Double click on Fix_policies.cmd to run it. A Command Prompt will open and close quickly. This is normal.
* Reboot your computer after it runs
* This fix may prove temporary. Active malware may revert these changes at your next startup. You can safely run the tool again.
* Note: Some malware will block the running of this tool. So if you cannot run Fixpolicies, then, rename the exe file to something like fixtool.exe and then run it.
You might need to restart the computer and then see if you can download normally.
-
Can't get them because the link doesn't point to a zip I can copy and paste into my winzip. The computer just won;t save it
-
Try from here. http://rapidshare.com/files/198632995/Repair_Permissions.zip.html
-
no luck
-
OK I'm adding them as attachments here.

I can't get it. I really am sorry this is quite confusing. this is what I get when I try to save link to put in the winzip to save it
http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=76916.0;attach=8585
any other action won't work either I tried saving I tried open in external application, and the usual click and download it just won't work
You must have the patience of Job to deal with this stuff. I on the other hand lost all my patience raising 5 kids lol
-
It's the challenge that keeps me going ;)
When I click on the link you posted I just get the attachment wanting to download.
Can you right click the link, http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=76916.0;attach=8585
And choose save or save as and try to get it to your desktop?
Or right click it and copy it and open it with your zip program?
-
I just realized you have been working with me for 11 hours today. I bet your ready for a break :)
-
Yea I'm getting ready to sign off for the night.
How about if you boot into safe mode with networking. Can you then download normally.
Get to safe mode by restarting the computer and tapping the F8 key until you get to the options screen. Choose safe mode with networking.
-
no neither method works I have tried all three ways possible at least that I know of to get it to save
-
ok shutting down to reboot safe
-
I am in safe mode and still not able to save.
Microsoft Vista people called me ealier this evening, guess they were embarrased because they couldn't fix the problem when I called them Saturday morning, and so are gonna do it for free. lol. They are going to have a tech call me tomorrow around 10ish. I was hoping we could have found it tonight. I will let you know what transpires. This really is an odd problem.
Thank you again for all your efforts. Have a good night
-
Please let me know what they come up with.
It's a real puzzler... (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c010.gif)
