Title: How do I system restore my Vostro 1000 Dell Series?
Post by: SkyMan on February 15, 2009, 10:28:42 AM
See thing is, I was doing my English report on the computer and suddenly it shuts down completely. So i hit the power button again. Then the blue screen comes up and says,

STOP:c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The Registry cannot load the hive (File):
/SystemRoot/System32/Config/Software
Or its log or alternate.
It is Corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Beginning dump of Physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator Etc.

I can't do anything. Can't get into windows...Nothing :'(...Any advice?
did i mention that when it hits the blue screen I cant do a thing.

No-Reformat, Nondestructive Total-Rebuild Option

Isn't that a repair install ???

Before you go for repair install, you may try one easier step...

1. If you have Windows CD, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp

2. If you don't have Windows CD...
Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomputerparamedic.com/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:
