Title: STEAM: Gmod 10 and Portal.
Post by: liambiscuit on March 01, 2009, 10:27:28 AM
I purchased Portal on-disk close to when it first released. It installs VIA Steam. I want to install Garry's Mod 10, but the site (http://store.steampowered.com/app/4000/) says:

Quote
This game requires that you own a Source engine game such as Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, or Day of Defeat: Source. Click here for a full list of games that meet this requirement.

if I "Click here" I am presented with this page: http://store.steampowered.com/search/?category2=16

Portal is in this list.

Does this mean that if I install portal on this machine, then purchase and download Garry's Mod 10, that the "Source Physics Engine" in portal will be used?

Using the steam program go to Gmod10 and at the bottom should be a list of all the games that work...Im not sure if portal will work, I think thats just for addons, but im pretty sure CSS is pretty cheap now  ;D

Steam will only let you download Gmod if it will work.

It worked =D

Portal did. My original suspicions were right.

And "Portal did." is not that good of a sentence...
