Title: How old is your Windows
Post by: Dustinator on April 06, 2009, 10:58:36 AM
Just wondering if 95 or 98 is still in use? In this poll I don't mean that computer that has sat in the basement for 5 years to count it has to be used ad least once a month. I be the first to spill i still run 95 on a laptop.  :)

Staying with good ol', stable Win 2K! 8)

Until Win 7 comes out, and see how it does.

Still running 98 on virtual partition..

I have- a PC-DOS 7 laptop with windows 3.1 that I usually fire up at least once a month for one reason or another.

Seems to be having issues now, though.

My other laptop isn't fired up near as often- (although around a year and a half ago I used it almost all the time), it has windows 98SE, 144MB of RAM and a 133Mhz Pentium.

the LCD is the crappy passive matrix kind.  works for the most part, hasn't been able to read my burned CDs for the last while, but I believe it's an issue with the brands...

maybe the poll should use checkboxes?

I had tried vista for a week or two, but it destroyed my new computer, but when I went back to xp, everything worked just fine again!

I still have Toshiba desktop with 98 on it, and Compaq with Win2K. Both in working condition, but in the closet, since I find using virtual Windows much more handy to use, if I need some reference.

Mr. paudashlake
This is a bull....LOL...nothing wrong with Vista :)
BTW, we're talking about OLD OSes here...hehehehe

I agree, in fact with my laptop it's quite the opposite- neither XP install allows suspend mode to recover- and the 2Ghz Processors stay at 16mhz or some other ridiculously low value.

Works 100% fine in vista though.

I remember windows 95 came on 14 floppies, I think. I think you had to actually request floppies for windows 98, though.

I had a computer running NT 4 but recently broke it down again for spares.
Currently nothing older than 8 years (XP) but when I get up and running properly I'll have a whole bunch of OSes on virtual machines.

I'm using xp home on my everyday desktop and laptop.

I only recently got rid of an old P133 with 2GB HDD and 64 MB RAM that was running Win 98SE. It was the kid's beater computer, not connected to the net but it ran fine for older games.

I still have my Win 3.1 floppies because the 98SE CD was upgrade so I had to have an older version. I have to keep the 98 CD for the same reason-my XP is upgrade version.

Dont you hate that.. :'( :'( :'(
Microsoft with their upgrade only CD's... I had the same thing with Office a while back.
You have to have one feature of office on the drive to upgrade to the next level.
I have a CD of WORKS, that I load then do the upgrades. >:D

well, computeruler made it up 2 years ago.  Before either of us had a computer of our own....I had "The HP" and he had the "Crappy Dell"

Actually, when he first made it up, his mom thought he meant the bathroom.  However, a dell belongs in a bathroom.  Where people can pee on it all they want ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't see why Microsoft just puts Windows 3.1 on there site to download.

I don't think putting it on there site is going to harm there sales.

linux has a version of win and so does mac, but i tested out wine before and it's had its share of difficulties at times.

i think they were to call the operating system lindows or winux or something like that (and I don't mean the lindows version of linux that's now had a name change)
