Title: Change firewall settings/Unblock sites
Post by: abcdefg... on April 07, 2009, 04:53:23 AM
My brother is being an idiot and has blocked me from some sites, mostly streaming sites like You-tube, as well as other keywords, like 'proxy.'

This has affected the running of some other sites as well, even if they weren't blocked specifically. My internet tends to load a bit slower. When i open IE, my optus home page doesn't load immediately like it normally does and sometimes can't even be displayed. (Internet still works fine though). Sometimes when clicking on other links it says that IE can't display that pg, but after refreshing it a few times it works normally. This did not use to happen before.

We have an optus broadband connection. His computer is directly connected to the modem and router but mine is wirelessly connected to the router. He has primary control over the network and can view files on my computer (but I can't access his).

When I visit a blocked site, e.g. Youtube, it says:
"Website blocked by Netgear firewall"

How do I change the firewall settings and unblock myself? The network is password protected and I do not know the password (and he won't give it to me either). The password is saved on my computer (but I can't read it as it shows up as dots) so that whenever i connect to the network i don't need to type it in. Is there some way I can obtain the password?

Can someone please help me unblock myself?
I don't want to continually use a proxy server on my own computer at my own home. ><"

I am afraid we cannot help you bypass these lockouts and firewall settings.

Oh... is it for legal and ethical reasons or something?
