Hello, my AMD Athalon 1500+ has XP Pro SP 3, is 133 GHz and has 992 of ram.
I have used these TWO (2) different drives, a 2 gig and a 4 gig, in the USB ports of both my computers, but now they dont work in the AMD? :-X
I had a look in the device manager and it says there are no drivers for the mass storage devices. :'(
Is it better to uninstall the driver from the device manager or maybe try a system restore?
-
Try plugging them in the back USB ports
I would try downloading drivers first, then a system restore.

Did you try to re-install (the newest) chipset driver ?
-
Thanks Carbon Dudeoxide, the back is just a little of a chore but I will give it a go then to see if there is any difference.
improbabilitist, No I haven't done anything to it yet. I'm working on the why did it happen theory first, before I try to fix the problem.
and in regard to why it happened:
I put a drive in to recover some data from it and transfer it out, so maybe this is the reason? It did take several boot up tries before Windows logged in successfully.
Maybe adding the drive has caused some sort of conflict. :-\
-
Carbon Dudeoxide, I did that and the computer said Windows has a corrupt file. :'( :'(
As to why that happened ... is probably from adding this other drive then. (maybe).
-
What corrupt file? Exact error message please.
Is the error by any chance a pop-up notification from the system tray (near the clock)?
-
Ahhh YES Actually... ;D ;D
Is that a BAD thing.. :'( :'( :'(
-
A little yellow triangle (pyramid style) with an exclamation mark inside it.
-
What did it say??
-
Sorry I was called to the phone.
AS above Carbon Dudeoxide, just in a balloon when I clicked on it it disappeared altogether.
Hang on then and I'll do it again.
-
I tried it again a few times and the result was always the same.
I get the acknowledgment noise and a pop sound and the exclamation mark comes up (see photo) as previously described. Again, when I click on it the triangle goes away.

What is the error message?
-
I know you want the exact message but I cant get it to come up again.
The only part of it I remember is, that it said in the balloon, "Windows has a corrupt file"
I tried it again and cant get it to display the message.

Re-install your MBoard drivers...
-
You may want to look for the error in your System Log in Event Viewer:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
-
Well there are a lot of errors in this log, under application, security has nothing and System also has no errors, just events 7035 and 7036.
Application has an error that is 8019 from ntbackup, and then a string of warnings events 1015 and 1020, 62.
I'll have to do a bit of research on these then and get back to you later, I have to go out for a bit.
patio, the mobo drivers are they on the disk (you know, the one that I have installed on three machines now and keep getting a nag screen about) or can I get them from the net?
Back later to do this research then.
Thanks ImnoGuru.
