Title: USB Safely remove icon missing
Post by: HoneyComb on May 03, 2009, 03:40:16 PM
My USB drive safely remove icon has gone missing. I have to go to explorer and eject. I went to taskbar settings and clicked to show it but it still isn't. I have restarted and it still is not there.  Can anyone help?

Is it so important? Just close any USB windows and pull it out...

I've always been told to always click to safely remove.  Some have trashed theirs by forcibly removing.

They had a window open...it doesn't hurt if you close the windows then pull it out...

Don't assume that just because the program is closed it is safe to remove it. Windows can take a bit to manage the data on those things, and if you pull it while it's working, you can easily corrupt it. Safely remove it all the time. You never know when windows will decide to go in randomly and index everything for the *censored* of it.

Unfortunately this method is how many people lose all their data on external drives.
Bad advice period.
