Title: Top Ten Per Cent!
Post by: Aegis on May 04, 2009, 09:04:36 PM
In the next day or two, the Folding Team will reach a rank of 1574, which after much struggle and deliberation, my feeble brain tells me is in the top ten per cent of all teams.

We've come a long way, and I hope we've the means to continue farther up the rankings.

Congratulations!

That's great to hear.
Congratulations to all, and here's to not just our current members, but to future folders!

Excellent, I'd imagine at our current rate we'll probably hit that in 1-2 weeks. :)

We've now surpassed this mark, and are (according to Aegis) inside the top 10% of folding teams (don't mean that sarcastically, just haven't checked ... if our hopes are dashed we can blame you Aegis, OK?).
Great to see the increased activity in the team.

Actually, when I took my numbers last week, there were 157,000 and some-odd teams.  Now we're up to 158,000 teams.  I just shifted the decimal to get my ten per cent figure -- not unlike the punishment of Sisyphus!   ;)

I don't mind if you had teased me, Calum -- you bring a lot to this forum, and you understand humor.

Nah ... I just meant according to your numbers, we were inside the top 10%.
That's as opposed to me making a few extra clicks and working it out for myself, as that would be unacceptable ;)
Good to see we're actually further up then we thought, heh, just shows the rate of progress I suppose.

In the client's options, change the team number to 67290.
Not 100% sure how that's done on the PS3 client (instructions should be available on the web if no one else chimes in here) but on the standard system tray client you would open up the configuration and I believe it's on the main page, if not it shouldn't be too hidden.
Let us know if you get it done, or if you have troubles :)

I've had this issue before, but it's easier to solve for me as I run it as a service.
You seem to have four F@H icons in your tray, which could be the reason there is a conflict.

The reason there is 4 is that every time I try and access it another icon appears..

Try exiting all instances of F@H, and check task manager to make sure they're all gone (process will be named Fahcore_xx.exe) then try starting it again.
You may need a reboot.

Otherwise, open up task manager and go to View - Select Columns.  Check the box to show PID and you will be able to see which program is causing the conflict.
Me, I have this issue because I run two of the same client, and they use the same PID.  I set the service to restart automatically and it's not a problem, there's no conflict.  In other words, you may be OK to just restart it manually each time, although that would be a pain and I can't guarantee there won't be other problems.

Sorted it. I just right click the icon and go to configure. Type in the team number done. I will restart just to get rid of the extra icons though so fingers crossed. Thank you for your time Callum

I'm just frustrated because I'm not bringing a lot of computing power to this.

Every little helps, guys.
It's the people with a single client running a few hours a day that make up the majority of folders and turn in the most units, all together.
Just remember, every unit we turn in brings us one step closer to a breakthrough.

Our team stats (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=67290) are looking awesome guys. Believe this is the first time that we've did a 10k+ 24 hour day.

You can only do what you can do. Every bit helps.

You're right.

When I add the work unit counts which are less than one hundred, it totals 447.  Combine all of them, and we become a pretty good "l33t" user!   :)

I just let my client run and forget about it. sometimes I'll disable it to run my n64 emu but it usually gets at least 4 or 5 days of constant folding 24/7.

1508 of 158531 not bad guy's. Grand score 1350718 Active CPU's in the last 50 days 74. Just set up a second network which my PS3 seems to run at superman speed when folding. It would seem by previous jobs can not be added to our total which is a shame  >:(

I am just sad that I can't be apart of it.  I might try running the cpu client again but that doesnt do much...

My client doesn't do a lot, either, with a 2 ghz processor, but I work through 'em as best I can...I try to remember it all adds up.

lol i run two types of FAH and Boinc clients running 7 projects at a time and mines on 24/7
Title: Re: Top Ten Per Cent!
Post by: Aegis on May 31, 2009, 05:08:58 AM
So, it'll let you run more than one FAH client at the same time?

I think that's what I've got.

When I'm not using the computer, I start the console client and have both clients running on an individual core, so I have two clients on two cores.

I have the same set up on two other computers, giving me 6 clients out of three computers. Most efficient.
